Photography Tips

~Please submit photographs that are at least 100 dpi (dots per inches)

for the best results. Anything less than 100 will print out blurry.

~Please note: Photocard templates with vertical borders will look best with a vertical photo shot. Templates with a horizontal border will look best with a horizontal photo shot.

Once you have picked out your announcement template, choosing your photograph is the next step. In order to find the best photographs of your baby, take as many pictures as possible, especially with the baby in natural positions.

Some of our birth announcements include more than a full photograph of your baby. Hands and feet of your new baby can be included as well. To find the best shots of your baby (or even your baby's hands and feet) take pictures from many positions, distances, and angles of your baby doing everyday natural things like sleeping, being awake, or being held or read to.

Once you have looked through your pictures, pick a few (but no more than five) to send to Prova designs. Please fill out our order form once you have your pictures, a template, and any ideas for customizing your photographs. Your order with Prova Designs will be finished within a reasonable amount of time.

How do I order a custom card?
The process is very simple.
First, choose your design or email us with your idea. We can make a custom design for you.
Then fill out our order form. We will send you an invoice by email. (We accept payment through Paypal only.) Once the payment is made, we can start the design process. Communication can be made by either telephone, email, or google chat. Once the final customer-approved proof is ready, we can go to print!

Can I use a photocard design from another page for my wedding announcements?
Yes you may. In fact, all our designs are interchangeable.

How do I redeem my gift certificate?
Simply enter your gift certificate number on our custom order form. Our gift certificates do not have an expiry date.

Can you change my photo to black and white and remove the red eyes?

Yes, we can do both and change it to sepia. Please make sure photos are in jpg format and are 300 dpi.

How often can I make edit adjustments?
You can make adjustments to your design up to five times, however please note that this will delay the arrival of your order. Additional edits will be charged a $5.00 edit fee.

Do you work with another language?

Yes, in English and French. We may also be able to work with Chinese characters, please contact us for more information.

Why do you only accept payment through paypal and by email?

Due to security reasons for both Prova Designs and you as the customer, we only accept payments through Paypal. You do not need to have a Paypal account to pay by this method.
We ask that you upload your pictures to us before we bill you, to ensure that the quality of the photograph(s) is acceptable. Also, because all our products are customized, we wish to inform our customers of the potential wait time before accepting payment.

What do you automatically fix and what enhancements may I get free of charge?
We automatically fix your photo for it to look its best- read eye removal, sharpening, brightening, etc. You can also choose to add the following photo enhancements:

What if I'm not sure which design I like better? Can I get a preview?
Yes. We can send you free samples of up to three designs by email. You can print these designs on your own before making an order, to see if you would like the actual design iteself.

Alternatively, you can directly print from our website. Just enlarge the template, hit print preview, select landscape format at 50% and print.

Which fonts do you use? Where can I get a list?

My interest in creating greeting cards and custom photocard announcements began during two major events in my life- my wedding and the birth of my first child.

Because there were so many people I wished to thank, I decided that sending out photocards would be the most practical, memorable, and cost efficient. However, I did not like the designs offered by the local photocentres. The ones I did like were offered on-line and were very expensive to print.

That's why I decided to create my own cards and to print them myself. After helping family members and friends with their photocard announcements, I decided that I would use my graphic design skills to help others to savour their moment.

How To Print

Developed for the frugal minded, printing your own cards at a local photo centre is a cheaper alternative for those on a budget. The process is very simple.

Order your design on our website by filling out the custom order form.
Once your design is delivered by email, (jpeg format) simply upload the picture at an on-line photocentre or bring it in person on a cd or usb stick.
Pick-up your photocards on the same day. It's that easy!

The cost of the designed jpeg is $15.00 and comes in two sizes: 4x6 or 5x7. At .19 cents per 4x6 card, you can't beat that price anywhere! Of course, you can always opt to have us print your photocard for you. Please check out our pricing page for details.

Some helpful tips:

When uploading photos, it is best not to choose the border frame option, unless your photocard announcement is a custom design.
Some photocentres have an "automatic fit option". It is best not to use this option as our jpegs are already sized to either 4x6" or 5x7".
Glossy photo announcements are a better choice than matte.
We recommend using Walmart Photocentre for the best results
